Chris is an experienced Chief Marketing Officer with sales and marketing experience spanning 30 years. Chris has worked with more than 40 iconic brands like Victoria’s Secret, General Nutrition Centers, Frontgate and Benjamin Moore.
Chris started his career in energy marketing with a start-up business in Columbus Ohio and worked to build a $100MM market in the summer of 1991. He worked for Roto-Rooter out of graduate school helping them to build their first data warehouse and database marketing platform before returning to Columbus Ohio to work at Alliance Data Systems. Chris lead a team of 16 analysts executing and analyzing marketing campaigns for more than 20 retail brands delivering more than $250MM in incremental revenue annually.
Chris returned to Cincinnati to run marketing programs and business development and worked to build the Frontgate Outdoor Luxury Suite at Great American Ballpark and the Frontgate Coastal Living partnership that introduced new products and services to the brand.
In 2006, Chris worked for an emerging payments platform called Bill Me Later and worked in sales strategy in the direct response vertical market helping companies like Restoration Hardware to accept the flagship Bill Me Later product. After BML was purchased by e-Bay/PayPal in 2008, Chris was recruited to be the Chief Marketing Officer for 2CO (2Checkout.com) a small payments company in Columbus, OH. Chris introduced direct sales and merchant account sales, engaged with the Board of Advisors, and helped the company increase TPV by $100MM. Chris helped 2CO pitch investors and positioned the company for an acquisition in 2011.
In 2011, Chris left 2CO and started TBG Marketing. He brings a broad background in marketing and sales experience in digital, database, and direct marketing and is focused on helping small businesses grow and achieve their full potential. He offers Fractional CMO services as well as tactical execution and delivery, and leadership consulting and mentoring.
Chris resides in Columbus, Ohio with his family and is active in community organizations and advisory boards to help companies achieve exceptional growth.
